Media stories keep hyping that Rahmanullah Lakanwal served at a CIA and Special Forces base and keep hinting that he did some terrible things for us and suffers from trauma over it. Like the Nidal Hasan story, it’s nonsense. Special forces and CIA bases were no big deal and Afghans, on their own, committed horrifying acts that would make the hair of a Dulles turn white. This is a society in which armed men raping kids and torturing their opponents before killing them is the norm.
Much as the media wants to invent a narrative in which Rahmanullah Lakanwal was traumatized by having to commit ‘extrajudicial killings’ for the CIA, he was one of the usually unreliable Afghans who signed up to provide added firepower and act as a native guide.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal didn’t carry out an attack in D.C. because we traumatized him…
He did it for Allah.
