Bannon and Epstein exchanged hundreds of emails and texts. Most leading newspaper articles didn’t mention their history, and broadcast news ignored it entirely.
Media Matters reviewed major print, online, and broadcast coverage of Jeffrey Epstein from November 12–December 8 and found that outlets overwhelmingly ignored his extensive ties to Steve Bannon. Only 6–8% of print and online articles mentioned the connection, and none of 67 TV segments did. This despite evidence that Bannon and Epstein exchanged hundreds of messages, coordinated travel, discussed political protection, and recorded 15 hours of interview footage. Although once vocal about releasing the Epstein files, Bannon has since gone silent, while his influential War Roompodcast continues hosting GOP officials and candidates and mainstream outlets still quote him without context.
