Trump posted on Truth Social appearing to blame a grizzly murder on the victim’s anti-Trump politics. He wrote that Reiner was killed “reportedly due to the anger he caused others” through what Trump called “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” accusing him of driving people “CRAZY” with obsession and paranoia as his administration ushered in a “Golden Age.”
Russell Moore, an evangelical preacher and former Southern Baptist Convention leader, shared the post and condemned it as “vile, disgusting, and immoral.”
A Trump critic, Moore argued in his 2023 book Losing Our Religion that tribal politics erode compassion and treat Jesus’ teachings as “weak.”
Christian Broadcasting Network anchor David Brody also took aim at Trump’s statements, adding, “This is so SAD to see from President Trump. This is NOT just, ‘Trump being Trump.’ It’s Trump being classless.”
