In 2024, Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts warned of a “second American Revolution” that would stay bloodless only if the Left cooperated. A year into Trump’s second term, Heritage itself is becoming a casualty of that revolution—largely due to Roberts’ own incompetence. After he refused to condemn Tucker Carlson for platforming antisemite Nick Fuentes, staff and donors revolted. Mass resignations wiped out Heritage’s legal center, with defectors decamping to a Mike Pence–aligned think tank. Heritage now looks hollowed out, undone by the extremism it tolerated.
