The holiday season in America is traditionally a time of peace, goodwill, and shared joy across faiths, rooted in respect for religious freedom. That tradition is being undermined by Donald Trump, whose bigotry and pseudo-Christian elitism fuel authoritarian ambitions. He exploits phony piety to intimidate and demand loyalty, echoed by Cabinet agencies proclaiming Christianity as the nation’s faith—an un-American violation of the First Amendment. These messages don’t reflect all Americans, or even Trump himself, who spent Christmas bombing abroad and posting self-glorifying rants.
This blending of Jesus and Trump shows they are determined to promulgate a belief in Trump and impose loyalty to him above all others. White House spiritual advisor, Paula White, recently said that “To say no to President Trump would be saying no to God.”
No, actually, it wouldn’t. But try to explain that to a member of the Trump cult.
