A crowd of protesters and counterprotesters gathered at Minneapolis City Hall on Saturday afternoon in response to the presence of out-of-state right-wing influencer Jake Lang.
Jasen Johnson joined Lang’s “Crusader March” from greater Minnesota, with participants using anti-Muslim rhetoric while supporting expanded immigration enforcement in the Twin Cities.
“God bless America, God bless President Trump and God bless legal immigration,” said Johnson
One video shows people repeatedly kicking a man identified as Lang while he was inside a vehicle. Organizers of the larger “Defend Our Neighbors” counterprotest said they firmly support nonviolence and avoided marching to prevent escalation.
A Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson said MPD is aware of reports of an assault, but no official report has been filed.
