According to Macron, U.S. foreign policy “demands maximum concessions and clearly aims to weaken and subordinate Europe.” For this reason, he did not hesitate to suggest employing the so-called ‘Commercial Bazooka’, available since 2023 but not yet utilized by Europe.
Interestingly, this commercial bazooka was originally created in 2023 to counteract trade pressure from China. Three years later, its deployment is being reconsidered as a deterrent against the United States.
Emmanuel Macron warned that the European Union should “have no hesitation in using it,” asserting that Europe “must not yield to the rule of the strongest because this leads to a neocolonial approach. Neocolonialism is not the answer,” he stated. “Europe has very powerful tools, and we must use them when we are not respected.”
