Trump says individuals will soon be prosecuted for 2020 election

Trump has repeatedly and falsely claimed that former President Joe Biden did not actually win the 2020 presidential election.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday again claimed the 2020 presidential election was “rigged,” saying people would soon be prosecuted for their roles, without offering details. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump said “everybody now knows” the election was fraudulent. The Department of Justice did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump has repeatedly and falsely asserted that former President Joe Biden did not legitimately win the election. Those claims have been rejected by federal judges, election officials, and Trump’s former attorney general, William Barr, who said there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud.

Since returning to office, Trump has continued to relitigate his 2020 loss, including DOJ lawsuits seeking access to ballots and voter rolls. He also blamed the war in Ukraine in part on the election outcome.
