At this link, there is a 10-minute YouTube video that the New York Times produced about three different people that ICE arrested for no stated reason. The video, Inside ICE detention: Stripped, Shackled, Starved, shows three innocent people describing their treatment after Trump’s ICE arrested and treated them like human filth. After their arrest and incarceration, all three were released with no explanation of why they were arrested or treated like garbage. This is the face of MAGA’s cruel, lawless authoritarianism that is now in power in America.
Questions to ICE officers about why and what was going on were answered with responses like these: “I’m not your case officer. I don’t know. I’m just doing my job.” or “Listen, I know every one you will say ‘I left my kids at home with no one to take care of them’. I don’t care.”
This video is heartbreaking. It’s hard to watch. But Americans really do need to be informed about what is happening right now to their democracy, rule of law and precious civil liberties. All of it is under grave, urgent threat.
I this what you want for America?
Are ICE officers acting legally and just doing their job?
Even if one of the people ICE arrests is a true criminal and real threat to society, is this how they should be treated?
