Vance attacked abortion access and LGBTQ-inclusion.
On a gray Friday in Washington, D.C., as officials warned of an approaching snowstorm, Vice President JD Vance stood near the National Mall and delivered a fiery speech portraying abortion rights and LGBTQ+ equality as existential threats. Nearby, a white supremacist group marched in formation.
The remarks came at the annual March for Life, a long-running anti-abortion rally that has grown in prominence since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. As Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson addressed the crowd, about 100 members of Patriot Front paraded along the Mall under police escort, drawing mockery from counterprotesters.
Vance praised the Dobbs decision, announced his wife’s pregnancy, and framed Democrats as enemies of faith and family, while condemning what he called “radical gender ideology” at home and abroad.
