And indeed, reading the hundreds of Biblical accounts, one cannot deny what Luther thought of “reasoning” as the greater enemy of the Church. But let’s see some of them.
2 Chronicles 7:4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord. 5 And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand head of cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats. So the king and all the people dedicated the temple of God.
Solomon sacrificed 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep in one week. This is about 20.285 per day, 845 animals per hour, 14 animals per minute, for seven days straight, 24 hours per day!
Deuteronomy 2:14 “And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.”
Conclusion. All of the “men of war”, some 600,000 who left Egypt in the Exodus were dead just thirty-eight years later. (See Exodus 12:37). That makes an average 15.789 per year, 1.315 per month and 45 per day! How did they perish since the Moses’ Brazen Serpent was protecting them?
2 Chronicles 13:17 “”Abijah and his troops inflicted heavy losses on them, so that there were five hundred thousand casualties among Israel’s able men” (NIV) or in the KJV: “And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men”..
There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam. Abijah went into battle with an army of four hundred thousand able fighting men, and Jeroboam drew up a battle line against him with eight hundred thousand able troops.
I didn’t know that Abijah possessed nuclear weapons!/s Don’t you think that we ought to correct our history books? How else can you figure out the 500.000 casualties in a single battle, exceeding the casualties of both the atomic bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima and of any recorded historical single battle of all centuries?
Note that, it’s estimated that more than 1 million Allied troops fought in the Battle of the Bulge, that lasted 1 month, including 500,000 Americans. This is considered the largest and bloodiest battle fought during WWII with approximately 200.000 casualties from both sides.
Also, if both sides possessed such a large number of soldiers, the population of Palestine should be over 5-6 million people, hardly feasible!
How you the Hebrew-Christians expect others to take your biblical accounts seriously with such nonsense?
