How to Track Santa’s Journey Tonight

It’s Christmas Eve, which means Santa is out and about delivering gifts, presuming you’ve been nice and not naughty this year.

Thanks to technology, there are a ton of ways you can track Santa on his journey, which has already begun in some parts of the world. If you want to see where he is right now, here are a few of your best options:

NORAD

NORAD is perhaps the most traditional way of tracking Santa. The organization has been tracking Saint Nick for 60 years thanks to a typo. In 1955 a Sears store in Colorado Spring inadvertently posted the number of the Continental Air Defense Command Center rather than a number for its own “Santa hotline” in an ad. The result was a number of children calling NORAD asking to speak to Santa. While the organization wasn’t able to pull that off, they did start tracking him on the radar and gave updates to kids that called in.

While those first calls were fielded by a Colonel, now volunteers keep an eye on the radar Christmas Eve and provide updates to children. You can call in and get an update yourself at 1-877-HI-NORAD.

Alexa

If you have an Amazon Alexa device, the NORAD skill can help you keep track of where the man in red might be at any given moment. In order to use it, you’ll first have to enable it on your device. Once you have, you’ll be able to say “Alexa, where’s Santa?” And get an update on where he is right now.

Google

Google is offering a Santa tracker in the form of a website as well as an Android app, both of which will provide a countdown to when Santa will likely arrive at your location as well as some games and other activities.

There’s a counter for how many gifts he’s delivered so far, as well as a “live feed” where you can see a cartoon depiction of what he’s up to right now.
