I posted this as a Breaking News discussion yesterday.
N.J. bill to remove religion as reason not to vaccinate kids has enough support to pass
Essentially, the New Jersey legislature has enough votes to remove religious exemptions as a reason to not vaccinate your children. Needless to say, those in support of said exemption were vocal enough to hold a large protest against the bill. I found a rather bizarre quote at the bottom of the page:
“Many opponents say they have opted-out because embryonic tissue extracted from aborted fetuses in the 1960s is used to make the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine. Others said they mistrust the medical and pharmaceutical industries and say that God had created their bodies strong enough without vaccines. They say the measure violates their First Amendment rights.”
What do you think?
Do the opponents have a legitimate grievance or are they completely in the wrong?
