I had a Dream!

Hi

I had a Dream!

I had a dream of walking barefooted along a well-trodden path with my donkey in tow when I spotted further ahead a boy bleeding and hurt. I checked him out and realised this was no boy. He was a man, bald and very-short. Who needed help, most of his clothes were gone, and he was nake bar for the Y-fronts he was wearing. Thinking it was strange as this was 30s CE, more than 1,900 years before the invention of such underwear. Then I realise, this was a biblical scene, and nudity was not allowed as was helping strangers who had been mugged by some robbers was also a no-no if one believes the Bible. I was dressing his wounds as he stirred and then winced back in fear, opening his eyes wide; he screamed out “Jesus Christ you scare the crap out of me.” “It’s okay,” I said reassuring him that I meant no harm to him. “What is your name,” I asked, for a moment he was silent—then he said. “My name is Saul, but my Roman friends call me Paulus. As you can see I am short in stature and Paulus or Paul means short or little in the Roman tongue, which suits me fine!” I asked what had happened. He said he was taking some Jewish prisoners back to the Sanhedrin court. When some Greek friends of the prisoners ambushed me. “How did you know they were Greeks, and not Jews or Samaritans?” I asked. Well one of them was naked from the waist down?

“Who are you?” he bleated. I am “Ben Panthera,” I said and that I was on my way home to Nazareth after being a servant in Egypt since I was 12 years old. “Nazareth, where is that!” he asked. “Its in Galilee,” I said. “Never heard of it and I have lived in Galilee all my life. Heard of Gischala (St. Jerome, Commentary on Philemon, vs. 23-24).” “Yes, it is about 20 miles north of Nazareth, and do they not call it Jish now.” No, the name Jish is a long way in the future” he said. Then he said “I am a Samaritan. Also, I tell the Jews I am from the tribe of Benjamin and that I am a Pharisee like my father (Acts 23:6). Those Jews will believe anything, what schmucks they are!” He said. “Me too! I am also a Samaritan (John 8:48), what do you expect from someone living in Galilee of the Gentiles to be! I said. The Jews hate us and call us Gentiles when we are readers and believers of the Torah too!” I said. “I bet your family will be glad to see you after all this time,” he said. “They think I am mad (Matthew 10:34-39),” I said. “Well, you don’t look mad to me and call me Paul,” he said. “Well, Paul, let’s get you up on your feet and see what clothing I have for you to wear, which is not much sorry to say, as I am wearing my last shirt and I only have a hessian sack, which is clean. I used it to fool the Egyptians who thought I was bringing magic out of Egypt, which fooled them, as my magic were tattoo/marks to my body in the form of charms (Talmud 104b).

Then I woke up laughing and the wife said: “what’s up, and so funny!” I told her about Paul walking away pleased as punch in his new hessian smock sack. Looking like one of Snow Whites dwarfs singing hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to work we go!

Do you have dreams that remind you of stories/parables you read in the Bible?

Also, do you have biblical dreams that feel real?

Take care!
