Christians Today Still Pass Forgeries As Authentic Scriptures
We live in the 21st century, and Christians today are still quoting or citing fake scriptures as authentic when trying to prove a biblical point. Which in any language is deceitful. The main Christian subterfuges are 1 and 2 Peter, 1 and 2 John, 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, Hebrews. 2 Thessalonians, Ephesians and Colossians, to name but a few. Yet, reading the New Testament (NT) it plainly states according to the Greek NT Acts 4:13 1550 Stephanus New Testament that Peter and John are illiterate idiots. So, how can illiterate Aramaic speakers write scholarly Greek, when they are ignorant of their written language? It is not me that claim these fake scriptures it has been scholars from both the beginning of the Christian religion to the present day. We know that most of the epistles of Paul have been forged, confirmed by church fathers themselves. On forgery, the misogynist Christian father, Tertullian himself said: “But if the writings which wrongly go under Paul’s name, claim Thecla’s example as a licence for women’s teaching and baptizing, let them know that, in Asia, the presbyter who composed that writing, as if he were augmenting Paul’s fame from his own store, after being convicted, and confessing that he had done it from the love of Paul, was removed from his office.”[Citation for published version (APA): Bremmer, J. N. (1996). The Apocryphal Acts of Paul And Thecla. (2 ed.), pp. 151-2, Kampen: Kok Pharos Publishers] Or check out Chapter 17 of the Catholic advent. http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0321.htm]
On Christian Forgery of the Scriptures
The Pagan philosopher Celsus rhetoric was against Jesus, his mother, Christian lies, and biblical forgery. Origen Adamantis a.k.a Origen of Alexandria (184-253 CE) himself was also against Christians forging and the altering of ancient biblical manuscripts. As Origen wrote: It is an obvious fact that there is much diversity amongst the manuscripts, due either to the carelessness of the scribes, or the perverse audacity of some in correcting the text, or again to the fact that there are those who add or delete as they please, setting themselves up as correctors, lengthen or shorten it as they please (In Matth. tom. XV, 14; P. G. XIII, 1293). [Wilbur N. Pickering, Identity of the New Testament Text III, ch. 4, p.16] What is more, the renown scholar F. J. A. Hort (1828-1892), an Irish-born theologian said: “there are no signs of deliberate falsifications of the text for dogmatic purposes.” Which, has modern biblical scholars severely critical of Hort, saying, Hort must have known the works of Origen above!
Ernest Cadman Colwell (1901–1974) was an American biblical scholar, textual critic and palaeographer. Wrote a scathing article in his book What is the Best New Testament? Which was damning of Hort words.
What we have are Christians blaming one another, with orthodox blaming gnostics or vice versa for doing the forging, yet we have Tertullian above cite an Orthodox scribe for forging the work of Paul. The late great biblical scholar Metzger said: Irenaeus, Clement of Alexandria, Tertullian, Eusebius, and many other Church Fathers accused the heretics of corrupting the scriptures in order to have support for their special views. In the mid-second-century, Marcion expunged his copies of the Gospel according to Luke of all references to the Jewish background of Jesus. Tatian’s Harmony of the Gospels contains several textual alterations which lent support to ascetic or encratite views. [Metzger, Bruce The Text, p. 201]
Other proof of Christian Orthodox forgings of the New Testament such as Trinity verses in the 1 John 5:7-8 aka Johannine Comma. http://www.bible-researcher.com/comma.html
Even the orthodox were capable of changing a reading for dogmatic reasons. Epiphanius (ii. 3b) that the Orthodox deleted “he wept” from Luke 19:41 out of jealousy for the Lord divinity. [J.W. Burgeon, the cause of the Corruption of the Traditional Text of the Holy Gospels] (Although most translations have reinstated it and corrected the error since, owing to old biblical MS discoveries.)
Christians boast that there are more copies of the NT than any other book from antiquity or even modern. Yet, they neglect to say that of the 5,600 + extant Greek manuscripts (MSS) there are no two copies the same.
If biblical scholarship state that certain scriptures are forgeries or pseudepigrapha or spurious is it not morally right to censure such text?
Or would you agree with said Christians that they are the words and works of God although everyone but them knows they are forgeries?
Keep safe!
