Man who allegedly fired at news crew killed by Texas police

A man was killed by police in Texas on Monday after he reportedly fired at  a local television news crew and officers near the scene of a house fire.

Police said the news crew, from KSAT in San Antonio, arrived at the scene of the house fire and was interviewing family members about the incident. The suspect was initially digging through debris from the fire when the crew arrived, CNN reported

The station reported the suspect, described as a male in his 20s and a nephew of the person whose house burned down, produced two handguns and began shooting at the journalists covering the scene.

Police eventually chased the man out of the second house, and he began shooting at them through a screen door.

Five officers returned fire at the suspect, killing him. KSAT reported local fire officials believe Monday’s fire to be suspicious.
