Marjorie Taylor Greene Actually Wants Republicans To Stop Wishing People A Happy Kwanzaa

Every year, memes circulate scolding non-Christians who are said to be ‘offended’ at being wished a Merry Christmas that they don’t celebrate, although there’s never any evidence of this imagined group of offended folks. (Many non-Christians actually celebrate Christmas, incidentally.) However, there are always a few people who do get offended that others celebrate differently — as Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene demonstrated on the day after Christmas.

Well, someone got offended, and unsurprisingly, it was the newest House Representative from Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Greene. “Stop,” she tweeted. “It’s a fake religion created by a psychopath.”

Kwanzaa, incidentally, is not a religion. It’s a holiday. As the History Channel‘s website explains, people of various faiths, including Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Buddhists, celebrate Kwanza each year, coming together to focus on seven principles which include faith, creativity, unity, and collective work.
