NBC’s Todd Admits Dems in ‘Shellacking Territory’ Ahead of Midterms

On Sunday’s Meet the Press, anchor Chuck Todd led off the show with bad news for his buddies in the White House and the Democrat Party. According to an NBC poll, Democrats are in for what he described as a “shellacking” in November if their prospects don’t drastically change.

Todd laid the groundwork for the big reveal of the polling numbers by opening the show claiming “President Biden’s news conference on Wednesday was designed to kick off a second-year reset of his presidency, recapture his political identity if you will.” Todd then reported on the big takeaway from the poll “our new NBC News poll suggests Mr. Biden does need a reset because he’s lost his identity a bit. He’s no longer seen as competent and effective, no longer seen as a good commander in chief, or perhaps most damaging, as easy-going and likable.”

The NBC host then went to the big board which displayed the breakdown of the poll. Todd announced, “just 5% of adults say Mr. Biden has performed better than expected as President, one of the many lowests, firsts, and fewest in our poll.” Todd then introduced a new segment called “Meet the Midterms” in which he will be covering the upcoming midterm elections on a regular basis throughout the year.
