The Mythical Unlawful Act of Joseph of Arimathea to save Jesus from the Curse of God!

Hi

The Mythical Unlawful Act of Joseph of Arimathea to save

Jesus from the Curse of God!

Joseph of Arimathea was, according to all four canonical gospels, the man who assumed responsibility for the burial of Jesus after his crucifixion. The historical location of Arimathea is uncertain, although it has been identified with several towns. A number of stories that developed during the Middle Ages connect him with Glastonbury, England, and also with the Holy Grail legend. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_of_Arimathea  That is the Christian version, taken from the ‘Monty Python Life of Brian’ which is an ancient (1979) UK re-enactment of the Holy Grail of comedies.

That said.   Joseph of Arimathea’s pious actions make perfect sense against a Jewish background in which burial tended to be swift and allowing corpses to remain overnight became a curse to God(Deuteronomy 21.22-23).  But Mark has him visiting Pilate, buying a shroud, and associating (in some way or another) with a burial – all on the day of Passover!  We are reminded about the approaching Sabbath, but the Passover is completely ignored.

The Pesach/Passover/also called Hag Ha’aviv (holiday of Spring) in earlier times, is referred to as a Sabbath in the Torah. Meaning that no work should be done throughout the Pesach or Passover period.  Yet the Christian New Testament has Joseph of Arimathea as mentioned above breaking the Jewish Law to appease Christianity. See link of not working on Passover and Sabbath below.

To get Jesus off a Pole and into a grave to stop the curse of God, early gospel authors invented a person that would defame Jewish Law for Christians to get their God!

One has to question who was this Joseph that came from Arimathea, which nobody outside the four Gospels knew where Arimathea aka Arimathaea was.

Three centuries later the Liar, Eusebius of Caesarea, tells us that Arimathea was a city close to Diospolis.  Yet, I have studied several ancient biblical maps for even Diospolis, which is Lod today and Arimathea, but not one siting could be found.  The Jews had never heard of it, and it was probably a zealot Christian that put it on the A to Z map of Israel.  Probably blindfolded and spun around a few times before sticking a pin on a chart of Judea.

One has to question why the NT authors brought Joseph of Arimathea into the plot, was it to remove the stigma that Jesus (guilty of a capital offence) would have been left hung on a pole under God’s Curse. See Deut. 21:22-23 above.

The scholar Cresswell, writing on the subject, wrote: So how did she (Magdalen) come to be described as Mary the (of) Joseph in the original passage in Matthew?  The mother of Jesus is here described sufficiently in terms of just one of Jesus’ brothers, James The name ‘Joseph’ is attached to the other Mary.  The evidence suggest two possibilities.

One is that Mary was the daughter of someone called Joseph.  That Joseph, we have argued, may have been Joseph of Arimathea, a corruption of Hebrew/Aramaic Yusuf ab Maria (Joseph, father of Mary).
