Big Lie 2.0: White supremacy has no place in the Republican Party

Republicans condemn hate speech, bigotry and antisemitism, but those who preach it remain in office and in the GOP.

Censure is a joke.

Censure is a way politicians pretend to take action against a wayward colleague. It’s all for looks. It means nothing. Not these days.

Neither does condemnation without punitive action.

So, when the leaders of the Republican Party, both in Arizona and nationally say that “white supremacy, neo-Nazism, hate speech and bigotry” have no place in the Republican Party, don’t believe them.

Let’s call that what it is: Big Lie 2.0.

If supremacists are still in the party …

Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, in condemning Arizona’s Rep. Paul Gosar and Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for participating in the America First conference, a haven for racists, white supremacists, anti-Semites and supporters of Russia’s Vladimir Putin, said on Monday that “there’s no place in the Republican Party for white supremacists or antisemitism.”

That, sadly, is a lie.

There most definitely IS a place in the GOP those who hold such beliefs, or they would not have been elected to office. Or reelected, like Gosar. And they would not remain in the party.
