The mother of the 18-year-old identified as the person who shot and killed 19 children and two adults at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, Tuesday has spoken out about the mass shooting, saying she’s “very upset about everything.”

The mother of the shooter at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde told NBC News Wednesday that she didn’t see the shooting coming after her son moved out of her home two months ago to live with his grandmother following a fight over a disconnected wi-fi, reported the outlet.

“I’m very upset about everything,” the shooter’s mother, 39, told the outlet by phone. “A lot of stuff has happened but right now, I don’t feel good.”

The shooter’s mother, speaking from Antonio, Texas, where she was with her own mother (the suspect’s grandmother) in the hospital following the grandmother having been reportedly shot by the suspect prior to his rampage, told Daily Mail that her kid wasn’t “a violent person.”

“My son wasn’t a violent person,” the mom told the outlet. “I’m surprised by what he did.”

“I pray for those families,” she added. “I’m praying for all of those innocent children, yes I am. They [the children] had no part in this.”

“‘I had a good relationship with him,” the mother continued. “He kept to himself; he didn’t have many friends.”
