The full House could vote on the recommendation any day now. Should the body approve the measure, the state Senate will convene in a special session for a trial that would decide whether or not Paxton would be removed from office.
The bipartisan Texas House General Investigation Committee, made up of three Republicans and two Democrats, made the recommendation Thursday. It outlined 20 articles of impeachment against Paxton alleging misconduct by the state’s attorney general.
