The legal victory Donald Trump recently scored in Colorado when a judge there kept him on the state’s ballot is likely to be short lived, according to a former assistant Watergate prosecutor on Saturday. Legal minds were quick to point out the judge ruled as a matter of fact that Trump engaged in “insurrection.”
Appearing on MSNBC’s American Voices with Alicia Menendez, former Watergate prosecutor Jill Wine-Banks was asked if it makes sense that any public official who engages in insurrection can’t run for office again, “with the exception of the president.”
“She made a factual finding that he is an insurrectionist. I believe that any higher court will find that it was the intent to bar such a person from holding the office of president. and that he will be barred.”
