Harvard faculty group shares antisemitic noose image on social media

A Harvard University pro-Palestine faculty group issued an apology Monday after sharing an antisemitic cartoon on social media.

The group, Harvard Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine (FSJP), reposted the image via its Instagram story Monday, according to students online. The image was originally shared by student groups Harvard Undergraduate Palestine Solidarity Committee and the African American Resistance Organization.

The image depicted a hand holding a noose around the necks of two men who appeared to be Muhammad Ali and former Egyptian President Gamal Nasser. The hand is drawn with a dollar sign in the middle of the Star of David and an arm bearing a machete in the background shows the words “third world” and “liberation movement.”

FSJP later removed the post, citing its “antiquated” and “offensive” nature.
