Ukraine War: Baltic NATO States Ready to Move Troops into Ukraine if Russia Makes Breakthrough

Poland, along with several Baltic NATO states, have indicated that they are ready to put boots on the ground in Ukraine if Russia manages to make a breakthrough with the latest assault.

Knewz.com has learned that Russian President Vladimir Putin has launched a renewed assault on Northeastern Ukraine, targeting Kharkiv and its surrounding regions.

The latest efforts made by Russian forces in the Ukraine war have fanned concerns among the Baltic states that Putin may be eyeing them as the next targets for his conquest after he has dealt with Ukraine.

On the other hand, Ukraine has been receiving somewhat “halfhearted” support from Germany, with Chancellor Olaf Scholz having denied Ukraine permission to attack Russia with German-made weapons.

In an interview with Tagesschau television on May 26, Scholz mentioned his intention to stay firm on his weapons policy. “There are clear rules that have been agreed with Ukraine and that apply to the supply of German weapons. At least, that is my position,” the German Chancellor said in the interview.

Scholz clarified that, through his policy, he is trying to prevent the conflict “from escalating into a major war.”

It is worth noting that the U.S. had imposed a similar policy regarding American weapons being used in the Ukraine war as well. However, according to a recent report from The New York Times cited by Business Insider, the White House is currently debating rolling back the policy, thus giving Ukraine a significant edge.
