George Carlin was Right?
The internet or the worldwide-web (w.w.w.) was created as a learning platform, or the source for gathering information. Yet, Christian blog sites use it for financial gain, they are just begging sites, no different to the Christian televangelists, who con ignorant devout followers out of their hard-earned cash, in the name of their god.
As we do lots of research on religious topics, my aids are astonished at how brazen these religious sites are, on asking for money. Never, has a comedian been so right in his portraying of greed, as George Carlin, on the church, and religion as a whole.
“Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish; where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever till the end of time! But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He’s all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can’t handle money!”— George Carlin.
Christians pray for rewards, be it a hope of a gift from God, or financial gain, or the lusting of their neighbour, or harm to their enemy or whatever! We see this in Matthew: 4 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:4 NIV. Christians, their whole purpose in life, is to expect rewards from their God.
On money, Jesus supposedly said: 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Matthew 6:24 NIV.
What do you say?
