Sane and rational people should…

I think it’s pretty obvious to anybody paying attention to the ridiculous conversations that we keep repeating here between believers in the divine provenance of various books and those who are sane and rational that there is no rational reason, no pertinent evidence, and no cogent argument in support of a sane and rational person believing that any deities exist, far less had anything to do with the writing, translating or spreading of any holy words…

I could put up a less confrontational post, of course, asking nicely whether anybody had any pertinent evidence, any rational reason, or any cogent argument that would lead a sane and rational person to believe in any gods or that they had anything to do with any obviously MAN-made texts… but we’ve done that a thousand times here, haven’t we? To the point that we’re all just about sick of the topic… there’s no point, it seems, in sane and rational people asking faithy folk for justification of their insane and irrational supernatural fantasies… all they’ll ever get is fallacious arguments, hearsay, personal testimony, reproach, condescension, insult or deliberate distraction tactics (such as the Gish Gallop)… the best they could hope for is a complete admission on the part of the faithy person that all they have is faith and there are no good reasons to believe it… leaving them, of course, somewhat nonplussed.

I put it to you all that, given the complete absence of any good reason that anybody with half their head screwed on should accept TO believe, sane and rational people should not believe in any deities or any holy texts. Do you agree or disagree? If you are a believer in the divine provenance (either direct or by some fuzzy “inspiration”) of some particular texts and you disagree with my assessment… please… stop effing about and present your reasonable reason to believe as you do!
