Recently, a creationist and I got into a debate about the Lascaux cave paintings. For those who are unfamiliar, it’s a cave in France with some of the finest prehistoric art in the world. According to the French Ministry of Culture, the paintings are around 19,000 years old. When I asked this creationist who painted them, this was their response:
“Lascaux’s teenagers with spray cans.”
After getting a good laugh, I decided to research just how infeasible such a claim was. In a short amount of time, I found out that aerosol spray paint cans had been invented in 1949, nine years after the cave’s discovery.
Time to turn it over to you. What are some of the silliest claims you’ve heard creationists make?
