As Trump talks economy in Chicago, Harris declines invite to defend record

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris were invited to speak at the Economic Club of Chicago, as the economy is a top concern for voters. Trump sat down with Bloomberg News for the interview, while Vice President Kamala Harris decided not to.

During the first month of her brief campaign, which began in July, Harris did not offer any interviews. Then, she reversed her media strategy to mirror that of Trump’s and appeared on a number of programs across radio, television, and social media to discuss her campaign.\

However, she shied away from the chance to sit down with Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait while Trump appeared for the interview.

“For the record, and for those watching on television, the Economic Club of Chicago and Bloomberg both invited Vice President Harris to a similar interview about her economic plans,” Micklethwait said at the start of the event.
