MEDFORD, Ore. (KTVZ) – Protests in Northwest forests might not get the attention they did a few decades ago, but some dangerous ones have emerged recently in southern Oregon – larges spikes and wires across roads and trails on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest.
“We are saddened to report that someone has been ‘spiking’ Forest Service roads in the Taylor Creek and Shan Creek areas,” the forest reported this week.
“Hunting and mining interests have reported spikes and wires across roads and trails in the area,” they added. “Reports have stated that the boards that hold the spikes have been covered with leaves, so it may be difficult to see them.”
Anyone who sees or finds something suspicious on the Wild Rivers Ranger District related to this type of activity was asked to report it to the Grants Pass Interagency Office at 541.471.6500 or the Wild Rivers Ranger District at 541.592.4000.
