The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a statement to advise of two fake videos circulating that aim to interfere in the democratic process ahead of the upcoming US presidential election.
A particular concern is the videos purport “to be from the FBI relating to election security,” with one claiming the FBI had “apprehended three linked groups committing ballot fraud.”
The other video depicted Kamala Harris’ husband, but both are deepfakes, purposely distributed for the spread of disinformation.
This type of interference has been an ongoing problem concerning the authorities ahead of the pivotal election on November 5.
