Have you heard the good news? Religion is coming back to America! According to our president: “We have to bring back religion in America, bring it back stronger than ever before,” Trump said.”
That’s all fine and good, except for one small issue. It seems to me that religion never left. On my way to work, I pass two churches, minimum. My hometown has numerous Christian churches of various denominations and a synagogue as well. When I drive by the Catholic church closest to me on Sundays, its parking lot is often filled to capacity. Another church’s local festival is so popular that you usually have to park several streets away.
So, then. If Trump is right and we “have to bring back religion in America”, why are there so many houses of worship in my small corner of America alone? Why are their services often attended by dozens, if not hundreds, of people?
