Cable news carried a distinct 2003 vibe this week, with Bush administration officials blanketing the airwaves to make the case for an attack in Iraq.
The situation was different. Instead of trying to justify a full-scale invasion in Iraq, they were championing a targeted strike near Baghdad that took out top Iranian military leader Qassem Soleimani. And instead of convincing Americans that the Pentagon should overthrow Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, they were discussing the possibility of regime change in Iran.
