An apparently mentally confused man stormed the US President’s coronavirus briefing on Monday and insulted the journalists and media representatives present for over an hour.
How the disturbed elderly gentleman managed to get to the White House is still completely unclear.
The bizarre appearance came when press representatives in the east wing of the White House were just waiting for the President of the United States to comment on how to proceed in the corona crisis. “Suddenly the doors open and this orange-painted guy with completely crazy hair and an overlong red tie bursts in,” recalls journalist Katie Franken.
But the Secret Service did not respond to the man who immediately stepped onto the podium that was actually intended for the US President and began to take turns saying political slogans and insulting the journalists present. He also played a propaganda video.
“We tried to distract him as much as possible with questions in the hope that someone would do something in the meantime,” said Franken. “But to no avail.”
On the contrary: The strange man grew more and more into confused fantasies. At one point he claimed that he had “total authority”. He repeatedly insulted the media present as “fake news” and “very fake news”.
Only after more than two hours did the man leave the podium. “You could tell everyone was happy that nobody was hurt,” said a reporter from ABC News. “Then I waited about half an hour, but unfortunately I didn’t see a president that day.”
