Neanderthals. They definitely existed. Skilled with tools, social humans, could have had a language, cared for their injured, and also took care of their dead.
These people existed way before the 6,000 years ago timeline for God creating the Earth. Nothing in Genesis about different models or starting over. If Adam and Eve were the first, how do you explain the Neanderthals?
