Here’s a question for you all to consider:
What’s worse for a child to be born into?
A) An atheistic household
B) Slavery
One might think that the answer was obvious… but then again, perhaps not.
Recently, on this very channel, one Christian insisted to me that it was worse that a child should be born to atheists than into slavery. Another Christian told me that this concept was, and I quote, “fuck all to do with Christianity”.
I decided to cite the bumper book of balderdash, and I’ll share that quotation with you all now:
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
It is one of my contentions that Christianity causes a perversion of morality, subsuming all earthly concerns to one thing and one thing alone: what would please Lord Yahweh most?
IF it’s true that most folk who have ever lived will spend eternity burning and being devoured by worms, and if it’s true that the deciding factor is belief in the Biblical deity… the first Christian might just be right…
What do you think? Is it actually worse that a child should be born into slavery, or worse that they should be born into an atheistic environment? Does Christianity (at least in some cases) cause a perversion of any decent moral sense that people might otherwise have?
